VEREDUS CORPORATION PARTNER WITH JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT AT JA ENTERPRISE VILLAGE IN TAMPA
Imagine what it would be like to run a city. Students can and do at Junior Achievement's Enterprise Village. The first of its kind in Hillsborough County, kids will follow a series of classroom activities about businesses and jobs in this simulated city, assuming the roles of workers and consumers for a day-long, unforgettable experience.
The Bill Poe Family Junior Achievement Center in Tampa houses a world-class learning facility where fifth grade students explore the world of business in a mini-city consisting of 20 public and private enterprises. JA Enterprise Village has an annual capacity of 18,000 students and the 15,000 square foot center features a state-of-the-art training facility for educators and volunteers. Through Junior Achievement's partner, the School District of Hillsborough County, the center has been built on school board property located in the 13000 block of North 22nd Street in Tampa in the University Area Community Development, a Florida Enterprise Zone.
"It is critical that we work to ensure the success of our public school children in a highly competitive and global marketplace. I believe that JA Enterprise Village helps the school district to meet that goal," said MaryEllen Elia, Superintendent, School District of Hillsborough County.
JA Enterprise Village introduces students to economics and business through classroom instruction complemented by a daylong hands-on experience where students apply learned concepts in a life-like community. During this one day experience students run various sponsored businesses, receive paychecks, open bank accounts, and have the opportunity to become consumers by making purchases in student run businesses.
Veredus Corporation supported the capital campaign and opened a "mini" Veredus Corporation storefront for the students to operate and serve student customers during their experience at JA Enterprise Village.
